Dental Scanning

Maximum clarity of images using low-dose techniques...

  • OPG
  • Dental CT Scanning
  • Lateral Cephalograms (LAT CEPH)

WHAT IS AN OPG?
An Orthopanthomogram (OPG) is an x-ray film which shows a panoramic view of the mandible (jaw) and teeth. This special x-ray film is taken on a machine called a Planmeca.

HOW IS IT TAKEN?
You will be required to stand in front of the Planmeca with your hands on the handles, your chin on the support rest and your teeth resting in the groove of the bite guide. When you are in position, the camera will rotate from right to left of your face. It takes approximately 15 seconds to complete and is painless.

WHAT IS A LAT CEPH?
A Lateral Cephalogram (Lat Ceph) is an x-ray film that shows a profile (side view) of your teeth. The film also shows the facial contour of your nose, lips and chin in relation to your bite. Like an OPG a Lat Ceph is taken on a machine called a Planmeca.

HOW IS IT TAKEN?
You will be asked to sit or stand, depending on your height, and small earplugs will be placed in you ears. This assists the radiographer with positioning. The procedure is painless and only lasts a few seconds.
